Chad Straughan
PharmD, Owner & Pharmacist
Welcome to Phoenix Pharmacy, where putting the customer first is at the heart of everything we do. I founded Phoenix Pharmacy with a simple mission: to bring truly personal, community-focused care back to retail pharmacy.
I earned my Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and spent 12 years working in the pharmaceutical industry before opening my first retail pharmacy. A connection to the community was calling my name. After recently taking a short hiatus from the retail space, I have returned with a renewed passion and a new opportunity—to build a pharmacy experience centered on service, compassion, and meaningful connection. I’ve now spent 10 years in the retail pharmacy space and each year reinforces my belief that exceptional care begins with genuine relationships.
At Phoenix Pharmacy, we pride ourselves on delivering:
Customer First Service – Every patient is a priority, and we strive to treat you like family from the moment you walk in.
Custom-Tailored Prescriptions – From compounding to personalized medication plans, we ensure therapies meet your unique needs.
Consistent, Trusted Professionals – Our team brings experience, reliability, and true care to every interaction.
Easy, Convenient Access – Quick service, accessible communication, and a seamless experience every time.
Beyond the counter, I’m a proud parent who loves spending time with my four incredible kids. When I’m not helping patients, you can often find me traveling, exploring the outdoors, or out on the water.
Phoenix Pharmacy is more than a business—it’s a commitment to uplift, support, and serve our community with excellence. I’m grateful for the opportunity to care for you and your family.

Don MacKellar
RPh, Pharmacist
Pharmacy has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My father—and for a short time, my mother—spent their careers in drug wholesale, so it seemed only natural that I would follow a similar path. Over the years, I’ve had a front-row seat to the many changes in pharmacy, and it has been an interesting and rewarding journey. This profession has been very good to me and to my family—my wife, our two daughters, and now our two grandchildren.
The team Chad has assembled at Phoenix Pharmacy brings together many years of experience, all focused on promoting your health and well-being. From traditional medications to specialty compounded prescriptions, we are committed to meeting your needs with care, expertise, and a personal touch—combining the best of modern pharmacy with the trusted values of “old-fashioned” service.

My name is Jose Torres, and I am excited to join the team as a dedicated compounding pharmacy professional. I am a bilingual, state- and nationally certified pharmacy technician, as well as a foreign-trained pharmacist with more than a decade of experience in community pharmacy, including both sterile and non-sterile compounding.
Originally from Nicaragua, I have proudly called Charleston home since 2015 and have developed a strong connection to the Lowcountry community. I am committed to delivering safe, precise, and patient-centered care while working collaboratively with providers to support individualized treatment needs.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife, our 7-year-old son, and our golden retriever, who keep life fun and active. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve our patients and to contribute to the continued excellence of our pharmacy.
Katie Finley
RPh, Pharmacist
My name is Katie Finley and I have been a pharmacist for over 20 years here in South Carolina. Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, I graduated from the University of Cincinnati James L Winkle College of Pharmacy and moved to Charleston shortly thereafter. I began my career working as a floater pharmacist for The Kroger Company in Cincinnati. After transferring to South Carolina, I took a position at Bi-lo Pharmacy where I worked for 17 years. During that time I traveled the state to numerous towns providing coverage for pharmacies in need, this is when I discovered my passion for retail. The company was forced to close its doors permanently in 2020 and I was given the opportunity to work in a small, family owned pharmacy in Moncks Corner, SC. Berkeley Home Pharmacy opened my eyes to independent retail pharmacy, which truly changed the trajectory of my career. I found a renewed sense of connecting with patients on a more personal level and enjoyed having coworkers that felt like family. Our new team at Phoenix Pharmacy is definitely one of experience, compassion and talent. We will give our patients the time and attention they deserve along with the best possible healthcare outcomes.
When not at work I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling and attending my childrens' various sporting events. I have been married to my husband, Mike, for 23 years and we have 4 wonderful children that keep us on our toes every day! We are lucky to call Charleston home and I look forward to serving our community once again.
